Synopsis of “The Meadow”. An extraordinary paranormal love story.
Do we slip through the trapdoor of death to live again and again? And if we do, where do we go? To those questions, “The Meadow” provides some interesting insights and the jury is still out on whether the authors wrote their book from memory, or if this all springs from very fertile imagination.
A brief glimpse looks like this: Professor Steve Ballantire’s ordered life unravels when MI6 springs Hugo, the brilliant child of an English diplomat from Tel Aviv to Northeast England. The boy becomes his protégée but his mother becomes his dilemma when he cannot deny his attraction to her or the inexplicable feeling that they know each other. Tensions rise dramatically when an old nemesis in pursuit of far more than the gifted child, leaves a trail of dead bodies behind while tracking Eva and Hugo to England.
The first book in a set of two, “The Meadow” is an epic love story involving four past lives where, across centuries and continents – from ancient Mexica to contemporary Pakistan, the lovers fail to bond. The story involves international espionage and intrigue, leaving the frustrated lovers with only one option – to re-unite in the Meadow, a celestial waterhole that exists between lives; a location they forget all about with each new incarnation.
The devious abduction of Eva to the Himalaya Mountains drives the past and the present into a vortex of retribution, forcing Steve to confront the nemesis who had torn them apart for lifetimes.
The background of “The Meadow” involves a story within a story. It took the authors, Mike O’Hare a

nd Elfreda Pretorius, two and a half years to complete this epic tale. Even more interesting is the fact that during the writing they never came face to face; he lives in North East England, while she lives in Canada. Yet, an uncanny bond held them together and spurred them on to overcome great obstacles in completing this book. Incredible “coincidences” unfolded as the project progressed: They discovered that they are exact opposites in Zodiac – literally to the day. Mike was born on November 16th at 10 pm; Elfreda was born May 16th at 10 am. Both authors usually write with music, and were astounded to learn that without sharing information about this, they constantly chose the same piece of music to create the story with. The similarities were numerous: Both have a keen interest in health related matters, the psychic and paranormal world, and neither appreciate the antics of “the establishment” and the devious ways in which power is abused in our world. Naturally, the things that they are interested in are woven into the story. Finally, “The Meadow” is ready for publication.
The only component they do not fully grasp is why Elfreda began to recognize the story as they were creating what was originally Mike’s idea. How could that be explained? “The Meadow” might help to answers, and hopefully make you think about your own life.
